Hekataion Canellopoulos

A roman copy from an original hekataion of 4th century b.C. I haven't found anywhere this hekataion published, so it is an honor to present it for the first time to the community of the devotees of Hekate. The statues has a lot of details, it is made of marble, the figures are close to each other, probably influenced by the style of Alcamenes. You can see it in Canellopoulos Museum at Monasteraki (ancient agora) in Athens. Its style is close to the style that Alcamenes invented with three bodies close to each other surround a pillar. The figures stand in symmetrical poses with their feet together. They wear a long overfall with a high thin belt. The skirt has a medium fold. The legs are modelled through the drapery. The right hand of the front figure held against the breast a fruit. The figure that we do not see holds a torch in the same line of her shoulder. The other figure on the right held the dress or something else. That hand is broken. The sleeves are short. The hair are long braiding to the sides.
